READERS QUESTIONS
Are you suppose to eliminate everyday when juice feasting? Doesn't that eventually stop? I haven't heard anyone say a lot about it. - anonymous

Thank you for your question. Yes, elimination should happen every day. One of my main objectives is to cleanse the system, particularly the colon.

David Rain of Juicefeasting.com says you should have 2-3 bowel movements per day on the Feast. I average about 1 a day, sometimes 2, very rarely 3.

According to coloncleansing.com, "The average American stores five to twenty five pounds of waste in their colon over the years."

I believe it. I have been drinking nothing but liquids for 34 days and I still have solids coming out.

I'm trying to plan how long to do the juice fast and I was wondering on average how much weight do you lose during a certain period of time? I know it depends on how much juice you are consuming and how much exercise you get. In your opinion, how long would I need to fast to lose 35 pounds? Two months? One and a half? Thanks!~Sarah

Sarah,

Before I give the answer that I think you would like to hear. I want to give you some food for thought. When you go on your Juice Feast, take the pressure of weight loss out of the equation. Weigh yourself at the beginning and get rid of the scale until the end.

I don't feel you can truly enjoy the experience of juice feasting (yes, there is joy) if you are constantly watching the numbers on a scale. Personally, I think I've lost more weight this time around (and have stayed on my feast) because I have no clue how much I weigh. Strange.

Think more in terms of achieving a healthy body whatever size that may be for you.

Pay attention to how much energy you have, how much your skin glows and your eyes brighten and of course, watch how your clothes fall off the hot sexy body you are achieving without a scale.

Okay, I'll venture on the scale and say that Juicefeasting.com says the average weight loss for women could be around 20 pounds per month. But as you said so many factors can determine that number and how much one actually loses. I believe it would have to depend on the person's health to start.

Is there any way that you could post your juice recipe (just one) for each day on your feast in your blog? -Wayne

Wayne,

Your wish is my command. I haven't went so far as to give them fun, catchy names but I will divulge some on the measurements on some of the juices that I will consume. Particularly my favorite combinations.

Collard juice #1
4-5 celery stalks, chopped
4 scallions, chopped
3 tomatoes, chopped
1/2 jalapeno
1 bunch collard greens
1 quart water
2 tablespoons hemp oil

1 Place celery, scallions, tomatoes, jalapeno, collards and water into blender. Process until all vegetables become a thick mixture.

2 Strain mixture through a painter's straining bag (or sprouting bag) into a large bowl.

3 Pour juice into two quart-size Mason Jars. Add 1 tablespoon hemp oil per glass.

Hi Terilynn,

I love your Daily Raw Cafe blog which has taught me a lot about raw food.
I was planning to start Juice Feast, but I see that you add hemp oil into your green juices.I live in Israel and I can't find any hemp oil here. What could I use instead, olive oil? coconut butter?

Yaelian,

I'm so glad you enjoy the Daily Raw and I wish you the best on your juice feast. Is flax oil available to you? It would be a better replacement. You can use coconut butter on the juice feast, but I wouldn't advice it for that particulary green drink.

HI Terilynn,

I enjoy both of your blogs. I'm considering a juice feast as well, but am concerned about my level of activity. I know people say your energy sky rockets, but I am just starting training for a triathlon (half ironman) so I'm not sure if now is a good time. The race isn't until July so it's all basework right now, but I'm in the gym six days a week... thoughts?

Thanks for any feedback. (oh, vegan for a year and raw for three months)

Thanks! Laura
